We are thrilled to announce that the EEIP Project Office has joined the EENOVA project, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhancing energy efficiency within Europe’s food processing value chains. This collaboration underscores our commitment to fostering sustainable practices across various industries.
About EENOVA
The EENOVA project seeks to address the significant energy consumption inherent in the food sector, which accounts for approximately 30% of the world’s energy usage. Notably, food processing and related activities contribute to about 40% of this consumption. EENOVA’s mission is to rethink the food industry by implementing energy-smart solutions that reduce fossil fuel dependence and lower carbon intensity across five regional value chains in Europe.
Project Objectives and Key Figures
EENOVA focuses on improving energy efficiency in food processing, logistics, and packaging. The project engages five regional food hubs across Europe, each specializing in different subsectors:
– Bulgaria: Wine Sector
– Romania: Meat Industry
– Austria: Bakery
– Lithuania: Water and Soft Drinks
– Slovenia: Dairy
By concentrating on these areas, EENOVA aims to develop adaptable models that can be replicated in other regions and sectors, promoting a greener and more energy-efficient food system.
EEIP’s Role and Commitment
As a partner in the EENOVA project, EEIP is excited to contribute to the development and implementation of innovative solutions that will transform the food industry’s approach to energy consumption. We are dedicated to collaborating with our partners to achieve the project’s objectives and to disseminate the knowledge gained to a broader audience.
